National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)

NSSE (pronounced “Nessie”) stands for the National Survey of Student Engagement. Responses to the survey will help  the university make improvements to student services and activities. 

First and fourth year students, look out for an email from Vice- Provost, Students Nona Robinson to receive your personalized survey link.

Improved Academic Advising

Through NSSE, students asked for better access to academic advising. In response, we updated academic advising websites and booking systems, and have included Civitas into advising sessions to reduce the number of times a student tells their story.

Access to Career Supports

Students told NSSE that they wanted better access to career supports and services. Career Education & Development responded with the launch of the Career Lounge, the Becoming YU Program and targeted career development workshops and programming.

Supporting Mental Health and Wellness

NSSE data resulted in more consultation and outreach with students to develop the new Mental Health and Wellness strategy, with community engagement sessions currently underway. NSSE data also resulted in the development of health and wellness services and workshops on campus.

Students who successfully complete the NSSE survey are eligible to redeem their choice of a grande latte at Starbucks (Keele campus), a medium coffee at Tim Horton’s (Glendon campus), a $5 York Lanes gift card or a $5 Break Room gift card. They will also be entered into a draw to win 1 of 4 $500 tuition waivers.
